”Konstnären / The artist” (2009) Oil on mdf, image size: 37 x 23,5 cm

A series of nine paintings: The Artist and Corpses 1-8 with oil on MDF, which was exhibited in ”Konst runt Möckeln” in Karlskoga and Degerfors. Corpses 1-8, eight paintings of civilian corpses in Iraq that I painted as they appeared on my broken computer screen. The computer screen shows the same information as a functioning computer screen, but it redistributes the information to stripes. The paintings, which are painted in 1:1, was raffled to persons with relevant links to Karlskoga on the 12th of December. The artist is painted from the same screen, but instead based upon a photograph of myself. This work revolves around the problems of my own upbringing in Karlskoga, a city in which Bofors is the largest industry. Bofors, and thus also Sweden, is a major arms exporter. Today USA is the 3rd top purchaser of Swedish weapons and these weapons are used in the war in Iraq.
